# How Luminous Ceilings Improve Automotive Dealership Showrooms

A vehicle is a curved mirror. Glossy paint, chrome, and glass pick up every light source above them. In a showroom lit with rows of downlights, each fixture appears as a bright dot or streak across the hood and doors, breaking up the vehicle's body lines.

A luminous ceiling replaces those many small, bright points with one broad, even surface. When that surface reflects in a car's finish, it appears as a smooth gradient that follows the body's contours instead of interrupting them.

A continuous luminous ceiling also provides even ambient light across the entire floor, so you can reposition vehicles without re-aiming fixtures. Accent lighting can still highlight a featured model.

For your customers, this means:

- Paint colors that read accurately, thanks to consistently high color rendering
- Body lines and surfaces that look clean, without hot spots or glare
- A space that brings the feeling of outdoors inside

Cooledge calls this immersive illumination: the sense of well-being that comes from a large surface area, low glare, and high quality light.
