COMPANY INTRODUCES NEW FLEXIBLE SHEETS OF LIGHT THAT SNAP TOGETHER AND ARE TRIMMED WITH SCISSORS TO FIT VIRTUALLY ANY ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT.
NEW YORK CITY, April 28, 2015 – Cooledge Lighting, the leading developer of flat and flexible LED lighting solutions, is introducing its latest light sheet product, SQUARE, and inviting the lighting community at LIGHTFAIR® International to visit the company’s stand and play with light. The Cooledge stand is an interactive experience where visitors can snap products together, twist and trim them and explore how lighting can be configured. Cooledge will also feature a light box demonstration that enables designers to see how the light interacts with different materials and how the distance from the light source affects diffusion and effect.
Cooledge’s products are UL Listed and ready to use out of the box. They require no heat-sink and are just 0.1” thick. Cooledge’s SQUARE can be snapped together to create a larger lit plane. The unique light source can be affixed to almost any surface, trimmed for a perfect fit, and provides uniform, smooth illumination in a range of color temperatures. Primarily used in wide area lighting applications including general illumination and backlighting, the Cooledge products can be used in curved, convex and concave architectural elements in a simpler, more efficient way than is possible with traditional lamps and fixtures. By design, and because of the company’s unique approach to attaching the material with snaps, the products are scalable and simple.
“Lighting can now be more easily integrated into architectural elements, therefore it needs to be thought of more as a building material. It is no longer a metal box that we need to hide, but another material to create with, opening huge opportunities for new designs and effects,” said David Kriebel, vice president of sales and marketing at Cooledge. “That means that designers will want to know more about the lighting material itself. They’ll want to feel it, bend it, play with it, and look at its light effect and the quality of illumination.”
